Some traditional people were called nomads because they did not settle in one place permanently. Instead, they moved from one area to another in search of food, water, and better living conditions.

1. Following Food and Water Sources

  • Many nomadic groups, such as the San people, moved around to hunt animals and gather seasonal plants.
  • Others, like pastoral nomads (e.g., the Maasai in East Africa), moved with their livestock to find fresh grazing land and water.

2. Adapting to Changing Environments

  • In areas with harsh climates (like deserts or grasslands), nomads had to move regularly to survive.
  • They lived in temporary shelters like tents or huts, making it easier to pack up and relocate.

Because they had no permanent homes and depended on nature, these traditional people were called nomads.
